I've got several great basic pieces with me and lots of loungewear, but my parents surprised my husband and I with reservations for a fancy pants dinner-date tonight, and I'm scrambling to come up with something sorta sexy, but still classic.
Enter: the backwards cardigan!
I tried a teeny little tiny version of the trend back in October, and wore this sweater that LOOKS like it's on backwards, but it's actually just made with the buttons in the back. I'm going full force with it tonight, though and am hoping to try it with a v-neck and no shirt on underneath (Meow)!

I think a woman's back can be one of the most elegant parts of her body, and why not show a little shoulder instead of focusing on a plummeting neckline in the front?
I also love this look for an innovative take on a comfy outfit for a casual day of running around... it's adorable over a floral dress, and instantly adds interest to a white tee and perfectly messy hair:

Alright, so what do you think? Have you tried this trend yet? I'm dying to hear how you'd style it up to make it work for you!
And I'll make sure to snap some photos of my own version to share with you over at Style & Pepper, so stay tuned!

I love that trend as well, but have yet to try it...I will be soon though :)
this is so funny! i was doing this years ago
I've started doing this recently and love the trend - so much more wear out of your cardigans!! My version of it is here: http://xrebelangelx.blogspot.com/2011/12/wear-it-backwards.html
I'm still not sure how I feel about this trend. These girls can pull it off, but I'm not sure if I could.
So cute! Have a great week ladies. xo, rv

I've never heard of or seen this trend before! It's a bit ... odd. I'd be worried it looks a bit too much like I'd just put the cardigan on back to front and not noticed!

I think this is super cute and it totally reminds me of Kris Kross circa 1992. Not sure if I could pull it off myself, but I think it's worth a try!

I like it! I don't have any cardigans it will work with though... either they are not v neck or you can see the tag through the fabric.

Totally digging this trend! But not too sure if I could pull it off... hmm confidence is key, right?!
Ooh this is interesting!
I love this trend!! Plus, it shows off my back tattoo. Win!
This is brilliant. I definitely need to try this one soon!

We used to do this when I was in grade 7 in 1983. It's taken a while to come back around again but it's one trend that I wouldn't mind doing again.
i love it. i think these examples are all super cute, i'm just wondering how it looks in the front. i rarely wear high necked shirts, and unless this turned out boat necked, i don't know if i could do it.
Never see or hear about this trend before, but I think is worth taking the risk, it looks really nice how they pull it off.

i feel like backwards sweaters and cardigans were also very vogue in the early 80s..... so, a resurgence not too terribly surprising. i love anything backless, so i will give it a go....

i love this idea!
about 2 years ago I found this amazing little top at Target, that basically looked like a backward cardigan. It's one of my favorite tops. http://mylilydarling.blogspot.com/2011/08/waiting-to-work-it.html
here is how I wore it while preggers!!
Loving this trend!
