Everything is a winner here - and I've been thinking about doing the bookshelf as a shoe rack thing myself. You can get the cheap Billy bookcases at Ikea, and you can paint the backing or put a beautiful wallpaper and it makes it a bit more decorative!

Since you also drink out of mason jars, i'm sure you've run into the "don't always fit in car cup holders" problem, always a bummer. Do you use the jars for anything else around the house ?
lids for the canning jar are awesome. I use an old blue ball jar as our toothbrush holder! Thanks for sharing!
