Blouses That Tie

Hey everyone! It's Terra and I'm back with some hard-hitting news about fashion. Is that an oxymoron? Be serious, come on.

Let's talk about blouses that tie. They're some of my favorite pieces. They are so ladylike. But don't mistake ladylike for subdued. These things are brash, they're bold and they will hold their own in a fight with a leather jacket.

I do like to wear these blouses as intended.

But I also like when they take a casual ensemble and elevate it just a bit.

Blouses that tie lend themselves quite nicely to some layering.

Don't be afraid to even turn it around. This chevron print blouse from Jessie was the perfect cut for just such an occasion.

Here's how Jessie styled it.
The next time you find a blouse that ties, give it a go. It will add a little spark to any outfit.

Feather blouse: Hip'tique, Purple blouse: vintage/thrifted, Polka dot blouse & cream blouse: Banana Republic

I LOVE the aesthetic of tie-neck blouses and pussybows. I just wish that I could find the perfect one for me!

I love bow-tie blouses, they're so cute and playful, and I love this idea of wearing them backwards. I wish more young women would adopt blouses into their wardrobe instead of skin tight t-shirts. ;)

These are adorable, I love tie blouses. I recently did a post on a collared blouse that did not have a tie where I added my own bow tie with a handkerchief: http://thebraidedbandit.blogspot.com/2012/01/bougainvillea-bow-ties.html

Have a lovely day!

with any piece, it just requires a bit of creativity, and a willingness to venture beyond the confines of the box. i like wearing them under sheath type dresses, or even more tailored, fitted dresses, provided there is room and i do not look like a sausage.

i have yet to pull the ol' backwards barbara..... i need to find the right tie-top first!

Tie blouse forever!!! I love them. Especially polyester ones from the 1970s. The prints are always fun and quirky.

I am with you on the tie blouses! Love them! The tie in front (or back) adds some nice texture to the outfit and adds a necklace-look without actually wearing a separate necklace. They are two-in-one pieces and who doesn't like that kind of efficiency?

You are so creative! I love how you've combined them and made them from casual to business. Your brown boots are gorgeous, by the way!

I'm a big fan of tie blouses. I have the blue and white skirt from BB Dakota and you've inspired me to style it with one of my tie blouses.
